Preparations are under way for a big Royal Tunbridge Wells town centre street party on Sunday 3 June. Staff at Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery are organising the special street party which will take place all along Civic Way and inside and outside the Museum and Library.
The event will be a Big Lunch event – a one day get-together for neighbours across the UK. The aim of Big Lunch is to get as many people as possible to have lunch with their neighbours in a simple act of community, friendship and fun.
The event in Royal Tunbridge Wells runs from 12 noon – 3pm and everyone is invited to take part. Residents are invited to bring their own picnic lunch to enjoy at the Museum’s street party tables.
Katrina Burton, Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery, said: ‘We are also asking people to make Jubilee bunting for the event. A special bunting workshop on Sunday 27 May from 1 -3pm will give you some ideas – or visit our website to start making your bunting now!’
During the day there will be a range of other entertainments, including music, magic tricks, traditional games, juggling, a smoothie bike, arts and crafts and much more.
The street party will end with an official cake-cutting by the new Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, Cllr John Smith, at 3pm.
