The Assembly Hall theatre in Tunbridge Wells has a new look for a new season…

This summer the Assembly Hall Theatre was refurbished in response to customer feedback. It reopened for its busy autumn/winter season in September with new auditorium seating in the front and tiered stalls, and re-upholstered seats in the circle. The main bar area has been redesigned and had air conditioning installed. More local suppliers have been introduced to the bar menu and patrons can now pay by contactless card and Apple Pay. New carpet and curtains complete the look and have breathed new life into the building, while in early 2016 air conditioning will be installed in the auditorium.

With the new theatre season in full swing, make sure you visit soon and see the improvements yourself. Music, comedy, drama, TV personalities, pantomime, ballet and opera means there is something for everyone!

Comedy is a big part of the Assembly Hall’s programme every autumn, and this season’s highlights include…

After more than a decade in Britain, the German Comedy Ambassador Henning Wehn has ‘groan’ to like puns… though he still couldn’t eat a whole one. As Henning’s assimilation is not yet complete he hasn’t lost his sense of Westphalian wonderment at the foibles of British society. Why does everybody want to be owned by a house? What’s wrong with having the Euro? And why hold society and government responsible for personal underachievement? You’ve only got yourself to blame for not being born into a better social class. Expect a crash course in personal accountability and have a right old laugh at the same time! Wunderbar! (Thursday October 22).

Twenty years ago Britain’s favourite publican (and politician) Al Murray, The Pub Landlord, embarked on his one man mission as the “King Cnut of Common Sense”, holding back a tide of bottled beer and ninny state nonsense. To celebrate this milestone, join this icon on his twice extended sell-out tour, One Man, One Guvnor back in Tunbridge Wells on Wednesday November 11.

Noel Fielding (The Mighty Boosh, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Luxury Comedy) is embarking on his first live tour in five years: An Evening with Noel Fielding. Expect a magical mix of Noel’s unique brand of stand up comedy, live animation, music and some of Fielding’s best known TV characters (such as The Moon and Fantasy Man). Fielding’s comedy has seen him perform in venues all over the world, such as The Royal Albert Hall and The Sydney Opera House, win numerous awards (including Perrier Best Newcomer and The Barry Humphries Award at The Melbourne Comedy Festival) and appear on TV shows such as Michael McIntyre’s Roadshow, Big Fat Quiz of the Year and QI. You’d be a fool to miss out. Come along on Friday November 13; bring your nan, fancy dress optional…

Calling all One Man Breaking Bad fans… One Man Breaking Bad, The Unauthorised Parody is a rip roaring ride through the greatest television show ever made (Saturday November 14). LA actor Miles Allen smacks the senses with his super-charged, hilariously accurate renditions of all the iconic characters, including Walter White, Jesse, Saul, Skyler, Hank, Walt Junior, Mike and Gus Fring. With over a million hits on YouTube, and sell-out runs at comedy festivals in Melbourne and Edinburgh, Allen’s incredible impersonations break all six seasons down into one, exhilarating, uproarious tour-de-force parody performance.
