Sports fans asked to share their memories

Sports fans are being asked to share their memorabilia for a new exhibition opening in June in Royal Tunbridge Wells.
Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery is looking for people’s sporting mementos to feature in the exhibition which celebrates the fans; to some the most important people in sport.
The Spectator is an exhibition about individuals and their experiences as sports fans. The museum wants to be able to share the fans’ stories with others and needs their sports related treasures to help achieve that.
Museum Officer, Jamie Taylor said: ‘We want you to get involved. Bring along your treasured collection of autographs, your lucky charm, show off your best hat from Ascot, if it’s important to you, we want to see it.’
Three events are planned where people can bring along their sporting treasures and tell their stories to museum staff:
Friday 13 April, 10am – 4pm at Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery, Civic Way, Tunbridge Wells, TN1 1JN
Saturday  21 April, 2 – 5pm at Tunbridge Wells Football Club, Culverden Stadium, Culverden Down, Tunbridge Wells TN4 9SG
Saturday 28 April, 12 – 4pm at Sankey’s Pub and Brasserie, Mount Ephraim, Tunbridge Wells, TN4 8AA
Fans who are unable to make any of the above dates can still bring items to the museum during normal opening hours. Items loaned to the museum will be returned and contributors will receive an invitation to the opening event where they will have the opportunity to meet other like-minded sports fans.
The exhibition opens on 2 June and runs until 1 September.
