Playwright Bertolt Brecht and composer Kurt Weill wrote this satire on money and morality back in 1930, but this is the first time the acclaimed show has been performed by Royal Opera. When three fugitives found a city based on pleasure, but as the place thrives, they begin to regret their decision. This jazz-infused attack on consumerism is conducted by Mark Wigglesworth, who was recently announced as the successor to Edward Gardner as Music Director of English National Opera.
