A special relaxed performance of Jack and the Beanstalk will be held at the Assembly Hall in Tunbridge Wells, as part of the family pantomime’s Christmas run
Aimed at families with children with an Autistic Spectrum Condition, sensory or communication disorders, or anyone who would benefit from a more informal environment, relaxed performances are very much the same as normal shows and the overall content does not change. But there will be small changes to lighting and sound cues, plus there’s a dedicated ‘chill out’ area and a more relaxed approach to noise in the auditorium during the show.
The show is presented by UK Productions, whose Director, Martin Todd, says: “We believe that everybody should have the opportunity to be excited and inspired by live theatre, but unfortunately in the past many people with autism or similar conditions have felt excluded. With this performance, we aim to make the theatre feel welcoming and inclusive for these children, young adults and their families.”
This special performance takes place at 5pm on Thursday January 2. There will also be a signed performance at 5pm on Saturday December 21.
Jack and the Beanstalk runs from Friday December 13 to Sunday January 5 and tickets are priced from £16.50 to £23. To book call 01892 530 613 or visit www.assemblyhalltheatre.co.uk
