Penshurst Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

Saturday 2nd June

Our June market will be a Jubilee special – we’ll have all sorts of festivities, with Royal-themed craft activities for the kids and even a celebration Jubilee beer for the grown-ups. As a Times Newspaper Top 10 market, with over 30 bustling food and drink stalls, we’re the perfect place to pick up all you need for a truly local Jubilee feast.

Saturday 2nd June
“From Bach to the Beatles”, Penshurst Church

Higham Choral Group, presents an evening of music in celebration of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.  This is a fundraising event in aid of Penshurst & Fordcombe churches. Led by Musical Director Richard Shackleton the choir will be performing some of their favourite songs.  There will be something for everyone – ranging from well known sacred pieces to lively popular songs and some familiar ‘flag waving’ pieces.

Sunday 3rd June
12 noon  – 1.30pm
The Big Jubilee Lunch – Church Park

With kind permission of Lord & Lady De L’Isle, a Jubilee Lunch will be held on Church Field. This will comprise welcome drinks followed by a hog roast and entertainment.  This will be a ticket only community event, made available to Penshurst residents and those with close ties to the Village.

Sunday 3rd June
1.30pm – 4pm
Penshurst Village Fete – Church Park

The Penshurst Village Fete will follow the Jubilee Lunch and will be open to all.  The usual village-based organisations will be running their stalls. Entertainment to include: Elvis (back in the village !), Punch & Judy, Bouncy Castle, Tea Cup Rides and Ice Cream Van.

Entrance £1 for adults, children free.

Monday 4th June
Gates open 12 noon, races at 1.30pm approx, Penshurst Duck Race, Church Field

The 3rd Annual Duck Race organised by the Friends of Penshurst Church will be taking place along the Eden & Medway, with kind permission of the Fredericks & the Penshurst Place Estate. There will be fun for the whole family, including the usual BBQ, Bar, Ice Cream Van & Cake Stall run by Penshurst Primary School PTA.  In addition this year, there will be a range of children’s activities including face painting, ‘duck craft’ and ‘hook the duck’.

Free Entry – Buy your Ducks in advance from the Farmers Market, the Post Office or on the day.

Monday 4th June
9pm – late
Jubilee Beacon Lighting – Well Place Farm

Penshurst Place will be hosting an official Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Beacon with a fireworks display on the evening of the 4th June.  All of the Parish are invited and refreshments will be available to buy on the night.  Exact times to be confirmed once notified by Buckingham Palace!
