Evidence to suggest that Lady Anne Clifford, a one-time occupant of Knole in Sevenoaks, once played Cleopatra will be presented in a special lecture at the National Trust house.
Scholar Yasmin Arshad will discuss her theory that Lady Anne – the wealthiest woman in Britain when she died – acted in The Tragedie of Cleopatra, an early 17th century play that predated Shakespeare’s Anthony and Cleopatra and was performed at Knole. Actors will recreate scenes during the talk, which starts at 5pm on Saturday November 9.
Tickets cost £15 including refreshments. To book call 0844 249 1895 or visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/knole
