Lakeside’s Gift to You – a fabulous festive Christmas launch

Lakeside is getting ready to officially open its free Santa’s grotto with a festive launch event! Between 4pm and 8pm on 1st November, Lakeside will be transformed into a winter wonderland when it welcomes Christmas fairies, elves and Santa himself who will lead a parade to his grotto in the Central Atrium.

There will be an abundance of activity all around the centre with Christmas music from a jazz band, barber shop group and harmony choir; free gifts for shoppers who take part in a photo challenge; a grand prize draw to win a hamper crammed full of toys; free face painting and even festive craft activities near Debenhams on level one.

Entry to the whole event is completely free and, at the end of the parade, Santa will declare his Lakeside grotto “open” for the festive season! The Lakeside grotto experience includes a 3D cinema (with a brand new film for this year) and a gift for every child* – and the entire experience is still completely free!

Kylie Minor, Acting Marketing Manager for Lakeside, says: “The magic of Christmas will arrive at Lakeside on 1st November! Over 33,000 children visited Santa in our grotto last year, so we’re looking forward to welcoming lots of families again this year that can all enjoy the magic for free.”

The grotto is open every day right up until Friday 24th December and families can pre-book their magical grotto experience online at www.lakeside.uk.com/grotto.

Lakeside will also be helping everyone do their Christmas shopping at their leisure with extended our opening hours from 3rd December. Lakeside will be open from 9am until 11pm on weekdays and 9am to 10pm on Saturdays in December**.

With free parking for 13,000 cars, shoppers won’t have to rush around to pick up all of those presents or worry about how long they’ve spent in the shops, either.

Lakeside’s free Shop & Drop service will further lighten the load from 1st December until Christmas Eve. Shoppers can drop their shopping bags securely during the course of the day then collect by car when they’re ready to leave. It’s a completely free service but any donations received will go straight to a worthy local charity.
