Annual Easter Egg Hunt: April 6th – 9th
Step into Easter: April 10th – 15th
Bring all the family to celebrate spring at romantic Hever Castle in Kent, childhood home of Anne Boleyn. The Annual Easter Egg Hunt from April 6th – 9th is a great opportunity to explore the gardens as you hunt for clues with the help of Henrietta the Hen and claim your chocolate egg.
Look out for a clutch of hens and their chicks, and learn about the different rare breeds from their owner. Those with an interest in keeping hens can find out how to set up a chicken coop at home and start collecting freshly laid eggs each morning. Traditional brass bands playing throughout the Easter weekend add to the festive atmosphere.
Over the Easter holidays, from April 10th – 15th, young visitors can make their own brass rubbings at the drop-in workshop. Select from a choice of brasses including King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn for this fun and educational art form which dates back to medieval times.
Step into the award-winning gardens to see Anne Boleyn’s Orchard covered in a carpet of daffodils sprinkled with hyacinths under delicate apple blossom. Drifts of bright daffodils line the river banks, while multi-coloured tulips, violas and wallflowers create a dazzling display in the Italian Garden.
Signs of new life can be found at every turn on the hour long Hever Lake Walk, home to many species of birds and water fowl, with rowing boats available for hire from the Edwardian boathouse (weekends & school holidays, weather permitting). Children love the Adventure Playground and Water Maze, while visitors of all ages enjoy the challenge of the 100-year old Yew Maze. Then head for the Restaurant for a well earned rest and refreshments.
