Now you can have the best of both worlds – all the good bits from the Christmas section of Messiah AND some traditional carols! Handel’s masterpiece is a wonderful piece of music – but it’s not short, especially if you’ve got children in tow, but this Christmas the Royal Tunbridge Wells Choral Society is performing a selection of the very best choruses from Messiah together with a varied selection of carols and seasonal music. You’ll enjoy the contrast of Handel’s splendid baroque monument and the familiar cosy glow afforded by traditional carols that really sets the atmosphere for the festive season.
The audience is invited to join in and sing a selection of carols to the accompaniment of the Wadhurst Brass Band giving their wonderful traditional warm sound. Renowned organist Ian Shaw accompanies and the whole evening is conducted by Roland Millar. His wife Debbie will perform some solos from Messiah and other Christmas songs.
The concert is at Saint Mary’s Church, Goudhurst TN17 1AN on Sunday, 11th December 2011 at 6.30pm. Tickets are available online at www.rtwcs.org.uk or at the door. Tickets are £8 with children £2.
