Tuesday April 26
Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells
Renowned composer Richard Rodgers once said that of all his musicals, Carousel was his personal favourite. It is also a favourite of TWODS, which is why they are delighted to be performing this wonderful and timeless classic starting tonight at the Assembly Hall Theatre and running until Saturday.
Set in a small New England town the story is one of love and loss, with some tragedy and life lessons thrown in for good measure! The characters face challenges that are still relevant today, some 60 years after the piece was written. Stephen Sondheim famously said ‘Oklahoma is about a picnic, Carousel is about life and death’.
Voted best musical of the 20th century by Time Magazine, and featuring some of the most powerful music ever written, Carousel includes memorable songs such as If I Loved You, June Is Bustin Out All Over and the iconic You’ll Never Walk Alone.
