It is ‘call-up time’ for Westerham’s Summer of 1914 weekend! Alan Everett Chairman of the Royal British Legion, Westerham branch, parades in standard bearer’s uniform at the start of the town’s commemorations of life 100 years ago. On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July 2014, the town will step back in time with a series of special events, music, activities and entertainment.
At The Royal British Legion, there will be a WW1 trench and French cafe and live music from a vintage street piano. Shops will display the goods they sold 100 years ago and there will be a family quiz and parade with horse-drawn vehicles. On The Green there will be vintage entertainment, music and exhibitions.
