A new dance is developing in West Kent – get your feet tapping and your heart jumping the traditional way!

The West Kent Arts Partnership is inviting local people to become part of a new dance project called Traditions that is happening across West Kent.

It’s simple, Traditions will get people dancing far and wide.  ‘Reel to Real’ is a brand new dance that fuses traditional dance with a contemporary dance twist and it’s all happening in West Kent!

Accomplished Kent based Traditional Dancer Kerry Fletcher and Contemporary Dancer Nina Atkinson have been working together to devise a fun new dance and they have been busy teaching the dance to children in schools in West Kent.  The dance ‘Reel to Real’ will be shared and performed within local communities in the coming months.

There will be plenty of opportunities to get involved over the next few months so why not get in touch and see how you can un-lock your traditional dance desires!  If you want to perform we need to hear from you!

Michelle Chorley Traditions Project Manager says: “This a fantastic opportunity for everyone to get involved and have a go and learn a new dance that is very much rooted in traditional step dancing but brought bang up to date with a contemporary dance flavour.  We want to get as many people involved as possible, everyone is having so much fun, rehearsals are full of laughter!”

West Kent Arts Partnership has funded and is leading on the delivery of ‘Traditions’.  The Partnership is an action led network of Arts Development personnel from the local authorities that cover West Kent: Maidstone Borough Council, Sevenoaks District Council, Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.
