Mysterious Weald – Hoodies in Bidborough Graveyard

Why you should keep your eyes open for weird figures at St Lawrence Church…

Those wishing to discover a little local history will enjoy a visit to Bidborough’s St Lawrence Church, which is one of the oldest places of worship in the area. Part of the building dates back to the 10th century, when it served as a chapel for the people of Bidborough; the church was extended in the 12th century and was granted its own rector in 1218. The names of every incumbent since then are recorded inside the church, plus the building boasts some beautiful windows installed by the William Morris Company in the early part of the 20th century.

However, if an eyewitness report is to be believed, the church also has some less attractive features. According to The Paranormal Database (www.paranormaldatabase.com), in July 1998 two visitors were enjoying a stroll around the churchyard when they noticed three hooded figures gliding quickly towards them along the path. These strange entities glowed faintly and simply had a “pale hue” where their faces should have been. Terrified, the witnesses fled, but waited just outside the churchyard for a while to see if the figures would reappear – they did not. Perhaps you should pay a visit to Bidborough and see if these haunting hoodies show themselves once again…
