The Junior and Senior Sports Acrobatics team from Next Dimension Gymnastic Academy, (NDGA) took home 17 medals from the elite Acrobatic Gymnastics Competition in Sittingbourne on Sunday (14th October), doubling the number members have been awarded this year in just one day.
The squad’s 19 members were awarded eight gold, two silver and seven bronze medals, making it NDGA’s most successful competition yet. Conner McKall, aged eight and Elliott Christmas, nine, topped the leaderboard in Next Steps Level 2 Men’s Pairs, as did Prep B Men’s Pairs – Sam Large (11) and Leo Keenan (seven) and mixed pairs Nicholas Triggs and Willow Balcombe (aged eight and nine), Leo Keenan and Verity Britton (both seven).
Nine-year old Amelia McCauley and Verity Britton (seven) were placed second in the Prep A Women’s Pairs category. Next Steps Level 2 Women’s Pairs Skye Christie (nine) and Rosie Godwin (seven) gained third place, along with Catt Hurman (15) and Emily Arnold (11) for Grade 1 Women’s Pairs and Chelsea Borrego-O’Callaghan (14), Candance Filbrandt (16) and Olivia Hossenboccus (nine), who competed in Grade 2 Women’s Groups.
NDGA’s Head Coach, Holly Freeman, said: “What a fantastic result for NDGA’s first ever Sports Acrobatics competition! Every one of our gymnasts gave it their all – and it was the first time the two youngest in our squad – five and six year old Sofia Bimaj and Joseph Fuller – had competed – they did exceptionally well. We can’t wait for the next competition in November.”
