CHRISTMAS is one of the toughest times of the year for families of children battling a life threatening or terminal illness, so the much-loved children’s charity Rainbow Trust has created a selection of heart-warming gifts to help you bring a smile to the faces of sick children across the UK.
The charity, which each year helps around 1,200 families cope with the realities of caring for a seriously ill child, has created a unique selection of six gifts, which can be bought, by you, for a Rainbow child or family.
Designed to be purchased on behalf of a loved one, Rainbow will send your chosen recipient a special card to highlight the real difference their gift is making to the lives of Rainbow families this festive season.
The gifts range from a surprise stocking or artbox for a poorly child who faces Christmas in hospital, to giving an exhausted parent an hour of much needed time to themselves.
Speaking about the difference these unique gifts can make, Sean Connolly, whose 3-year-old daughter Iris was seriously ill with a brain tumour, said: “Christmas is a very difficult time for a child to spend in hospital. It’s the time they want to be at home with their family so Father Christmas can come down the chimney and surprise them. It is upsetting when they know that’s not going to happen and, instead, they are going to be stuck in hospital. To be able to bring a bit of Christmas joy into the ward is wonderful. Your gift this Christmas will bring a smile to a very sick child’s face.”
The colourful gift cards will be hand personalised with messages for the purchaser’s loved one, who can even view the gifts in action online as Rainbow has created a series of short videos to highlight how Rainbow will be making things just a little bit better for families in crisis this Christmas.
With gift options ranging from £15 – £100, there is something for every budget and the envelopes are hand stamped for a special personal touch.
Alternatively you could support Rainbow by snapping up its Christmas Crackers, giving your dinner guests a chance to win a prize they’ll never forget, including a £5,000 Boodle’s diamond, a stay at the luxurious 5* St Martin’s Lane Hotel or a Merlin Annual Family Pass, giving the whole family unlimited access to attractions such as Alton Towers, The London Eye and Legoland.
Boxes of 5 crackers are available at £10, each containing the customary Christmas hat and joke.
