LETTER OF THE MONTH

Beaming Bride

BEAMING BRIDE
As a bride to be, I was thrilled to read your wedding guide in last month’s So. I found the wedding planner countdown helpful to determine what tasks needed to be on my to-do list and when they needed to be finished by. I also enjoyed the feature on DIY weddings – Marianne Mercer’s advice has boosted my confidence to craft elements of the decor myself!
LOUISE DALE, BY EMAIL
Ed: I’m sure you will make it look amazing!

TRAIN TRAUMA
I am one of the many that commute from Tonbridge to work in London each day and I am writing to express my frustration at the poor service myself and other commuters receive on a daily basis. From delays due to glare from the sun to trains being cancelled because of rain, when will South Eastern provide us the decent service we pay so much for?
EMILY CHURCH, TONBRIDGE
Ed: Bring back the steam trains, that’s what we say…

ANTIQUES EXCITEMENT
I was pleased to read in your previous issue that the beautiful location of  our very own Ightham Mote will feature in the national Antiques Roadshow television programme. My grandmother passed away a few years ago and  left behind a collection of porcelain  vases that I have never got round to having valued. With the show being filmed down the road from me, I really should take up this one-of-a-kind opportunity and look in to the items being seen by the experts.
TARA EDMUNDS, IVY HATCH
Ed: Let’s hope that you get a high valuation for your antiques!

Wait Your Turn

WAIT YOUR TURN
I agree with the writer’s rant from the February issue that we Brits have a preference to queuing and cannot stand it when people don’t wait their turn. This happened to me the other day when I was waiting in line at my local supermarket. A new till opened up and a rather rude customer who was behind me bolted straight for it! This frustrated me immensely, honestly the cheek of it, it is as if they didn’t have a conscience. I think something that can help stop this behaviour is if members of staff are more vigilant as to whose turn is next, creating a fairer system and a lot less stress!
LAUREN FINCH, BY EMAIL
Ed: To queue or not to queue is definitely not the question.

GREAT GASTRO PUB
The Oak Tree in Sevenoaks was reviewed in your undercover eater feature last month which is a favourite pub of mine. Despite the reviewer’s disappointment over the lack of guacamole in their bun, I have not heard any other complaints about the gastro pub. My friends and I frequent it often to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere with top food and drink – I just want to thank you for giving the pub the publicity it deserves.
CALLUM PHILLIPS, SEVENOAKS
Ed: Those burgers sounded delicious, with or without guacamole!
