Demelza Hospice Care for Children will benefit from this year’s X Factor Charity Single. The cover of the Rose Royce classic,’ Wishing on a Star’ recorded by the 16 X Factor finalists will be available to download on November 20th, and via physical single on 21st November.
Together for Short Lives, the organisation supporting children and young people unlikely to reach adulthood and their families will receive all the net record company proceeds from sales of the single this year. As well as supporting important UK wide work, the large majority of the proceeds will go to local services supporting children and families, including Demelza.
Demelza Hospice Care for Children supports over 700 life-limited children and their families across South East London, East Sussex, and Kent. Demelza has two hospices, one in Eltham, Greenwich and one in Sittingbourne, Kent as well as a community nursing team based in East Sussex.
Our motto is to add life to days when days cannot be added to life.
Simon Cowell has worked closely with Together for Short Lives for many years and comments: “Having worked at close hand with this charity and seeing the amazing work they do for kids and their families who need help and support, I am thrilled that the X Factor charity single this year will benefit this charity.’”
Steve Hoy, Chief Executive, Demelza Hospice Care for Children said: “It’s fantastic news that children’s hospices like Demelza will benefit from the proceeds of the X Factor single. Not only will we be able to help families even more who are coping with caring 24 hours a day for a child who is unlikely to reach adulthood but it will raise awareness of the work we do on a national scale. I urge everyone to download or buy the single and help your local children’s hospice continue to support families in your area.”
The sixteen acts performing on the single are: the boys, Frankie Cocozza, Craig Colton, Marcus Collins and James Michael; the girls, Janet Devlin, Amelia Lily, Sophie Habibis and Misha Bryan; the groups, Nu Vibe, Rhythmix, The Risk and 2 Shoes; and the overs, Kitty Brucknell, Johnny Robinson, Jonjo Kerr and Sami Brookes.
