The story everyone’s been discussing this month…
Staplehurst residents’ hopes of being able to head to their local Natwest branch have been dashed – after it was revealed that the bank in the village will ‘never re-open’.
Natwest recently made the decision to close nine branches next summer, due to an increase in online banking. However, the Staplehurst branch has been closed since July after a ram raid where thieves smashed into the building and stole the cash machine, and now won’t re-open at all. Despite usage in Staplehurst only being down 18% since 2011, residents will now have to travel to Cranbrook, Tenterden or Maidstone to visit their nearest branch.
