The story everyone’s been discussing this month…
Those who use public transport could be in for travel issues, after KCC announced its plans to amend and, in some cases, abolish council subsidised bus services. There is currently a consultation in place, which ends this month – and Wealden areas such as Tenterden, Rolvenden and Hawkhurst could all be affected by the proposed changes.
Commuters who currently use the 12RL service from Tenterden to Headcorn station could be set to lose out on their commuter connection, as KCC propose to withdraw this service, although they are suggesting changes to the number 12’s timetable to provide cover for some journeys.
And, those hoping to travel from Rolvenden to Ashford via Tenterden late at night could also find themselves stuck, as the proposal suggests cancelling the 22:05 Ashford to Rolvenden and 22:49 Rolvenden to Ashford journeys.
Residents of areas affected have taken to social media sites to express their concerns over the changes, with many Tenterden locals who use the 12RL service as a means of commuting to London via Headcorn station angered over the suggestions.
To have your say on the proposals, visit www.consultations.kent.gov.uk before May 15.
