A new campaign to tell the world just why Kent is a great place has been launched by Visit Kent.
Kent is Great takes the visual imagery of Visit Britain’s current Britain is Great campaign and adapts it to highlight all that is good about the county. Visit Kent is believed to be the first regional body to have been given permission by Visit Britain to use the imagery.
“The Britain is Great campaign, designed to encourage the world to holiday in the UK in the summer of the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Games, has already established itself in people’s minds thanks to the imagery used around the world,” said Sandra Matthews-Marsh, Chief Executive of Visit Kent.
“With the stunning images we had taken as part of the Kent Contemporary campaign, we saw an opportunity to marry the two together.”
The campaign, which will use social media channels to spread the message, was launched at Kent 2020 Vision Live last week, using the views of Kent’s Ambassadors to kick start it.
Among those giving their views on why Kent is Great was Geoff Miles, Chairman of the Kent Economic Board, who said: “Kent is the Mars bar county – a great place to work, rest and play”.
Frank Martin, Chief Executive Hornby Plc, contributed: “Kent is a great place to do business. The combination of great people, great countryside, great coast, great communications and proximity to London mean that businesses can thrive in Kent.”
During the day, visitors to Kent 2020 Live were asked why they thought the county was great and invited to Tweet their responses, which included: “Kent, so many great places to visit, inland and costal but best of all we produce some great foods, drink and creative people!” and “#Kentisgreat because everywhere you go there is always something different to do, and lots of good local food and beer.”
Now the views of residents and visitors to the county are being collected through Twitter, Facebook and mykent.co.uk to be broadcast to the rest of the world. Messages can be added via www.mykent.co.uk, Facebook (www.Facebook.com/visitkent ), and Twitter (@Visitkent)
“This is a simple but effective way to spread the message about our great county using branding that will be instantly recognisable,” said Sandra-Matthews-Marsh
“We hope as many people as possible get involved and help us tell the world just why Kent is Great.”
