Bat & Ball station could be heading for a £900,000 renovation after chiefs at Sevenoaks Town Council submitted a planning application to bring it up to ‘a Sevenoaks standard’.

An application for funding has been submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund with an initial decision anticipated this month.

The refurbishment would include public toilets, a café and community meeting rooms. Roderick Hogarth, chairman of the town council’s community infrastructure committee says: “The public have been telling us for some time that they have concerns about the current station facility and there is no reason why these should not be up to
a Sevenoaks standard. The innovative and sustainable proposal put forward by the town council can only be of benefit to local residents and visitors.”

It is also the town council’s intention to provide access to the platform close to the community centre, which will make the station easier to access for people with mobility needs and those using push chairs.
