Whether your New Year’s resolution is to get fit, lose weight, or to do something for charity there is a great event to work towards. This year Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Walk Ten event will be held at the iconic Sissinghurst for the second time.
Walk Ten Sissinghurst Castle is part of a nationwide programme of walks taking place during the summer, raising thousands of pounds for Marie Curie Cancer Care nurses to provide end of life care for thousands of patients in local communities. This years twilight 10k walk is targeted at recruiting over 500 participants who after the walk can enjoy a festival like atmosphere, as fundraisers are treated to live entertainment and music with a unique theme, whilst enjoying a picnic in stunning surroundings.
Local Kent Community Fundraiser, Fiona Dodd said; ‘Walk Ten is perfect for those whose New Year’s resolution is to get fitter. If people go online and register themselves now, they’ll be committed to improve their fitness for the walk in August. You only have to talk to some of the nurses to know what a difference they can make to people who are dying but still want to stay with their families. Our Walk Ten events are magical, it’s not just about the walk; it’s also about the whole evening of family entertainment after the walk as well.’
Registration for the event is now open and people can sign up at www.mariecurie.org.uk/walkten or by calling 08700 340 040. The event takes place on 20th July 2013 and opens at 6pm with the walk setting off at 7pm. Children under 16 are free, adult registration before the event is £10 and for adults to sign up on the night it is £15.
