On Friday 19 October 2012, 170 AXA PPP healthcare volunteers will be supporting Stand Up To Cancer by manning phones and administering donations from members of the public from its specially set up 100-line call centre during Cancer Research UK’s and Channel 4’s night of live TV fundraising. The campaign is raising funds to help accelerate cancer research, so that new treatments reach cancer patients more quickly.
Backed by celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow, and with week-long activity starting on Monday 15 October across Channel 4, E4 and More4, Stand Up To Cancer will culminate with a night of incredible live TV hosted by Davina McCall, comedian Alan Carr and Embarrassing Bodies presenter Dr Christian Jessen at 7:30pm on Friday 19th.
Sonia Wolsey-Cooper, AXA PPP healthcare membership & people director, said:
“At AXA PPP we’ve a strong track record when it comes to getting involved and doing as much as we can to help others in need.
“I am proud that so many of our employees have come forward to volunteer their time for what promises to be a star-studded fundraiser for a cause that touches so many people’s lives.”
AXA PPP has launched a new national press and TV advertising campaign featuring its dedicated cancer nurses – highlighting the support and reassurance they offer to members undergoing treatment for cancer.
The healthcare company also provides cancer support online and through social media, which is available to anyone who has been affected by cancer, including friends, families and carers. In the next week, to coincide with Cancer Research UK’s and Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer fundraising there will be fourteen live online discussions,1 backed by a wealth of information and resources at www.axappp.co.uk.
