2018: The Colour Comeback

The experts at Rencraft are predicting big things (and colours) for next year

As the clocks go back and winter starts to take a hold, many kitchen designers turn their attention towards predicting the key trends for the year ahead.

At Rencraft, there is one thing we are sure of … 2018 will be the year of the colour comeback!

Robert Waite, Director of Rencraft’s Sevenoaks showroom, comments “For years grey has dominated the colour scene, but over the last 12 months we have seen many of our clients becoming bolder with their colour choices and we believe that this trend will continue to gather pace throughout 2018.”

“Maybe it’s a reaction to all the doom, gloom and uncertainty that’s been in the news recently, but more and more clients are now choosing to add a splash of colour to their designs. In the last few months alone we have hand-painted part of a kitchen in a striking shade of bright green, another client chose purple for their island, while blue as a paint choice is also seeing a surge in popularity as well.”

But, Waite adds, “It’s not goodbye to grey forever. The majority of our handmade kitchens now feature more than one colour or texture, another fast-growing trend. Teaming a brighter colour with a more understated shade such as grey – or even another material entirely, such as Walnut – is big news. It creates interest and helps clients to really add that personal touch to their finished design.”
