Woods’ Wine Tasting Fundraiser plans to raise a glass & much needed funds for Amelia’s Miracle

Woods Restaurant, Produce Store & Bars is inviting customers to a very special Wine Tasting at Woods to help raise funds for a very special little girl. Amelia Saunders has an inoperable brain tumour and is the three year old daughter of Chantal Saunders, whose best university friend (Hildenborough-based Esther Parks) and regular customer at Woods Restaurant in Tunbridge Wells – got in touch with the owners (Karen and Sheridan Wood) to see if there was anything they could do to help raise funds.

On hearing that there is a ray of hope for this courageous little girl through a pioneering therapy called Antineoplaston, the Woods were determined to help in any way they could. With this new treatment only available in the USA and treatment costs expected to run up to £200,000, Woods Restaurant decided to stage a fantastic Wine Tasting at Woods on Friday 27 April – which is open to all members of the general public (but must be pre-booked in advance).

Starting at 7pm and costing just £20 per head (with all profits going to Amelia’s Foundation) the wine tasting evening includes sparkling wine, a two hour wine tasting with local Vintner Tim Fletcher, delicious cheese, meat and fish platters, served with Woods own chutneys, oils and paté in the elegant surroundings of the award-winning restaurant on The Pantiles.

Commenting on the fundraiser, Karen Wood said: “When we heard about Amelia Saunders, we knew we had to ‘do something’ for this little girl. The family has already raised £82,000, thanks to the tremendous generosity of family, friends and strangers touched by Amelia’s story so we are hoping that our elegant, fascinating and delicious Woods’ Wine Tasting night will help the family get a little closer to realising their hopes and dreams for their daughter.”

Further glitz and excitement will be added to the evening with an auction and raffle. Auction prizes include ‘A Little HOPE’ canvas (a signed and personalised limited edition piece of art by the Art Attack TV legend Neil Buchannan), a Champneys beauty treatment, golf lessons and a round of golf for four at Hever Castle Golf Course. The raffle is stacked high too with generous donations including bottles of Champagne, a Cook voucher, a Glazy Daisy voucher, designer hair products and children’s clothes, magazine subscriptions and a family of four pass to a kid’s play centre.
