Kingsland delivers Kent grown crunch to local primary school as kids limber up for Create A Fruit & Veg Masterpiece

RJ Kingsland & Son, one of three sponsors behind the Produced in Kent inspired Create A Fruit & Veg Masterpiece, helped primary school children limber up for entry into the fantastic Kent-wide art competition, when it delivered a van load of locally grown fruit and veg to the children at Loose Infant School, Maidstone on Friday 18 May.

The county-wide art competition is open to all primary school aged children to enter before the deadline on Monday 11 June, and the Produced in Kent competition has been made a reality by the generous sponsorship support of abm Catering, Hadlow College and R J Kingsland & Son as well as funding from the Kent 2012 Small Grants Fund.

The delivery of fresh and locally grown fruit and vegetables by R J Kingsland, saw groups of young children from Year Groups 1 & 2 creating some fabulous sports scene with their fruit and veg, as the 2012 competition takes on an Olympic theme this year.

How to enter
Produced in Kent is inviting all primary school children (in Year R to Year 6) to join the race and to create a picture depicting London 2012 using real fruit and veg. Children taking part in the novel and educational art competition are challenged to only use in season fruit and vegetables grown in the ‘Garden of England’ during the early summer in the making of their masterpiece and competitors simply need to take a photo of their picture and get it into the judges at events@producedinkent.co.uk before the deadline of MONDAY 11 JUNE. Schools, after school allotment clubs, Cubs, Brownies and Sunday schools, can enter individually or in groups.

Live final
The three best entries in both the Individual and Group categories will be fast tracked to a fabulous live final to be held at Broadview Gardens on Friday 29 June. Here children will have the chance to recreate their fruit and veg masterpiece under starter’s orders from celebrity foodscape artist and the live final judge, Carl Warner.

Finalists will be awarded Gold, Silver & Bronze medals and a bumper selection of prizes. Full entry details can also be found on the Produced in Kent website – visit www.producedinkent.co.uk
