Historic Hever Castle near Edenbridge in Kent launched its new luxury Bed and Breakfast accommodation on Friday (15th March). Normally only available in conjunction with a private event, the 21 en-suite bedrooms can now be booked individually by guests looking for an overnight stay or short break in one of the country’s most romantic castles.
The launch was attended by more than 70 people including local dignitaries, business people, tourism organisations and press, keen to see the newly refurbished accommodation and enjoy the lavish hospitality provided throughout the evening.
Following a welcome champagne reception in the Castle’s Inner Hall, Sevenoaks District Council Chairman, Robert Orridge, officially opened the refurbished bedrooms located in the North Wing of the Castle. He commended Hever Castle for providing much needed luxury accommodation within such an historic setting, making it available to all on a B&B basis. Visitors were then given a tour of the bedrooms before dinner was served in the Astor Wing’s Tudor Suite.
The elegant bedrooms have been refurbished to an exceptionally high standard whilst retaining the classic and historic influences of their surroundings. All en-suite and individually styled, the double, twin, single and family rooms offer stunning views, indulgent bathrooms, antique furnishing and sumptuous beds. And while the Astor Wing forms part of the Castle itself, it is only accessible to guests, offering them peace, privacy and seclusion in this unique setting.
During their stay, guests benefit from a pass to visit the 13th century castle, once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII’s second wife and mother of Queen Elizabeth I. Golfers receive a special rate at the adjoining Hever Golf Club, and free access to much of the award winning Castle gardens, lake and parkland during times when the grounds are closed to the public. Besides soaking up the historic atmosphere and breath-taking scenery away from the day visitors, it’s a unique chance to stay on a former royal estate with over 700-years of history while enjoying 21st century luxury.
Only 30 miles from central London, 30 minutes from Gatwick and 1 hour from Heathrow, Hever Castle makes an ideal base from which to explore the “Garden of England” and its many attractions.
