@GOODFOOD_TW’S NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION IS TO KEEP SUPPORTING THE LOCAL FOODIE SCENE…

Hello and welcome to my first column of 2018! A new year typically signals a time for change as we look to better ourselves over the upcoming twelve months. For many, that will mean giving up that dastardly habit or working towards a goal. For me, that goal will be to celebrate and showcase more of the independent businesses that make our part of the country so appealing for visitors and residents alike.

Whether it’s one of the fabulous food and drink producers, like Chegworth Valley based in Harrietsham, or the abundance of independent eateries in our towns, there is so much choice when supporting our local businesses.
I hope you enjoy the column and continue to support local in 2018!

FIVE LOCAL AND INDEPENDENT PLACES TO SUPPORT IN 2018

FOODIES DELICATESSEN TUNBRIDGE WELLS

Based on Camden Road (a haven for independent stores), Foodies stocks a fantastic variety of local products and delicacies.
Highlights include their fabulous cheese selection and yummy preserves from Wylde and Shrub.

PASTA MADRE TUNBRIDGE WELLS

Ditch the procedural Italian chain restaurants in favour of a hearty and delicious meal at Pasta Madre. The carbonara is a particular highlight as the pasta is handmade on site.

HOLLIE’S LITTLE CAKERY SOUTHBOROUGH

Based in Southborough, Hollie’s Little Cakery is an emporium of deliciousness. Pop in to the studio to try some of their tasty cupcakes and look no further if you want an extraordinary bespoke cake.

THE HOPBINE MATFIELD

This idyllic pub in Matfield serves a host of local ales and lagers, as well as a variety of delicious wood fired pizzas (my favourite is the hoisin duck). Their sister site, The Little Bull in Brenchley, serves fantastic brunches too.

THE WARREN TUNBRIDGE WELLS

Located at the top of the High Street, The Warren serves a fantastic fine dining menu all week and a special ‘Taste of The Warren’ set menu at specific times, with the majority of produce coming directly from their Crowborough Estate.

PIC OF THE MONTH

The Pantiles is bursting with fantastic independent food spots and @pantileslady has all the best content. Just look at that scrummy brunch at Hattons!
