RACHEL FRASER AND JOSIE PARSLEY OWN FRASER & PARSLEY, A BESPOKE STATIONERY COMPANY. HERE, THEY TELL US WHY THEY LOVE WHERE THEY LIVE…
Where do you live?
Rachel lives in Matfield and Josie is in Kilndown.
How long have you lived there and what made you decide to move there?
Rachel moved down from London and Josie moved down from suburban Walton on Thames, Rachel in 2008 and Josie in 2011, and the decision to move to the Weald was a combination of more space for children, escaping London, peace and tranquillity. The Parsleys simply followed the Frasers!
What’s your favourite shop locally?
Josie enjoys pottering around Cranbrook whilst Rachel is always in Tunbridge Wells. Another favourite is Weathered & Worn in Hadlow, where we find it hard to leave empty handed!
Where’s the best place to go for a Sunday stroll?
We both love to walk around the gorgeous Scotney Estate.
The best place to get a cup of coffee?
Starbucks if in town or we both have a new addiction to Hamerton + Jones in Goudhurst.
Where do you take people when they come to visit?
Josie lives on the outskirts of Scotney so we always walk down for a yummy cream tea and stomp home, Rachel takes her pick from the many National Trust properties around us.
What’s the night life like where you live?
Between us we have five children so our social life is mainly dinner at friends’ houses.
Where’s your favourite place to eat locally?
Hamerton + Jones, or the Goudhurst Inn for Sunday Lunch and easy after school dinners. Both our husbands adore Turmeric Gold for a fantastic curry…weekly!
Are there any nice views nearby?
We both have beautiful views, Goudhurst has some gorgeous ones.
If you’re looking to relax and unwind, where’s your favourite place to go?
Each other’s houses – not kidding. Josie’s pool in the summer and cosy log fire is always welcome in the colder months.
Where’s the best place to meet friends and socialise?
Josie loves to meet friends at the Walled Nursery in Hawkhurst, Rachel likes the Little Bull in Brenchley.
What do you do when you spend a weekend or day off in the local area?
The Frasers like to pop to Lewes and look at the antique shops, and both families enjoy a bike ride or Go Ape session at Bedgebury.
Why do you love where you live?
On top of the beautiful surroundings and tranquillity it’s the people; we are both so blessed to have wonderful friends at the children’s schools, at church and in our villages.
