Love where you Live Tonbridge & Malling

Where do you live?
I live on Holborough Lakes which is a new development situated between Snodland and Halling.

How long have you lived there and what made you decide to move there?
We have been there three years now. We loved the weatherboarded style of the homes. As soon as you drive in it has that American feel, almost like you are on holiday! The development has some great on site facilities which include a watersports centre on the lake, a resident’s gym, a village hall with a host of community events and activities and of course the Marks & Spencer Simply Food Store is very appealing. It is also only a quick drive to our favourite local town, West Malling.

What’s your favourite shop locally?
You will always find me browsing in Down Swan Street, in West Malling.
It’s a lovely little gift shop selling things for the home, jewellery, cards – you will always find something in there.

Where’s the best place to go for a Sunday stroll?
As our home is situated around the freshwater lake and two trim trails, we can go for a beautiful stroll just outside our front door.

The best place to get a cup of coffee?
It has to be The Hungry Guest in West Malling. I love the décor and you can enjoy the surroundings from a choice of seating arrangements including family friendly booths and comfy Chesterfield couches on the first floor. With your coffee you can also enjoy freshly baked breads and homemade cakes and take home with you many of their delicatessen products on sale.

Where do you take people when they come to visit?
If they are not local and haven’t been before then Leeds Castle is always our first stop. We are so lucky to have such a stunning castle on our doorstep.

Where’s your favourite place to eat locally?
The Swan in West Malling is our absolute favourite. It is a Michelin listed brasserie and their brunches are the best and a great way to start the weekend. It is our most favourite place to dine in the evening, and also has a cocktail bar, a library and outside dining with an outside cocktail bar.

Are there any nice views nearby?
Kits Coty in Aylesford is situated between Maidstone and Medway towns and offers spectacular views across the Weald of Kent. I highly recommend taking advantage of Kits Coty Brasserie and stopping for a bite to eat whilst you are there, or staying overnight at the Kits Coty glamping site – great fun!

If you’re looking to relax and unwind, where’s your favourite place to go?
We really enjoy a family bike ride to the local pubs. We are so lucky to have so many great country pubs around us so we take advantage of this by grabbing our bikes and looking forward to a well earned drink and sometimes a Sunday roast at the end.

Where’s the best place to meet friends and socialise?
Normally at one of the many local pubs but Frederic Bistro in Maidstone is fast becoming a favourite.
Offering a wonderful social atmosphere, the French cuisine is delicious and they favour seasonal produce and local suppliers. They have a wine and cheese bar and also offer a selection of 100 gins – what’s not to love?

Why do you love where you live?
I’m so lucky that we are perfectly situated amongst so many wonderful things that this part of Kent has to offer yet within under an hour you can be at one of many gorgeous seaside towns or from Ebbsfleet International train station you are in the centre of London within 20 minutes. Being a bridal and event hair stylist, I’m also very lucky that my job also takes me to some wonderful venues and so I feel like I’m discovering new places all the time.
