After more than a year of negotiations, the Lower Pantiles has been bought by the Marquess of Abergavenny for an undisclosed sum (the guide price was £4.5million).
Owned by the Nevill family until 1939, the area includes shops, offices, flats, Royal Victoria House, the Corn Exchange, the Auction House and Sussex Mews. Although no plans have yet been released by new management company Lower Pantiles LLP, the Marquess was aware of the sensitive issues surrounding his new purchase.
“There are challenges, especially with regards to how we can fully utilise the Corn Exchange,” he said. “Nothing has been ruled out and it’s time we got this space working again.”
The Upper Pantiles remain the property of Targetfollow (Pantiles) Ltd.
